Dementia friendly books

Wellington City Libraries now has a collection of books in large print that are aimed at those with dementia/mild cognitive impairment and their supporters/whānau. Book topics include favourite sayings, poems, animals and proverbs.
Included in this collection are four condensed novels from Dovetail Press, which also have discussion questions at the end of each chapter. There are also two books from Cognitive Books, who have launched a publishing line in association with the Alzheimer’s Society UK. Their first book, Looking back at … The Beatles includes a free unlimited downloadable audio book with Bill Nighy narrating.

Where can I find them?

This collection is designed to complement our existing Memory Kete and is currently housed at Te Pātaka, our Distribution Centre.
