Youth Advisory Group
The Youth Advisory Group (YAG) exists to provide a space where taiohi and library staff can share ideas to help make the library a better place for youth.
Do you have ideas that would make the library more youth-friendly? Have an event you want us to run, books you think other folks should read, or library-related content you want to create? Have your say, meet other like-minded teens and help out the community by joining the YAG today!
Do you want to run an event sharing the wonder of off-Broadway musicals about time-travelling vampires with the community? Go for it! Want to take the lead on creating bizarre and alluring social media content for your peers? You got it! Have feedback on ways the library could be more inclusive for you and your friends? This is the place for you!
What to expect when you become a YAG member:
- At a minimum, you'll attend termly meetings with other YAG members and library staff from around the city.
- Depending on your interests, you might get involved in a smaller group working on an idea with help from a librarian.
- You'll have the chance to build your leadership and teamwork skills (it'll look great on your CV!) while having a lot of fun and meeting new people.
- Free pizza and good vibes!
To apply for the YAG, you need to:
- Be between the ages of 13 and 18 at the time you apply.
- Live or attend schools within the Wellington City Council area.
- Fill out the Youth Advisory Group Application Form online.
- Be prepared to contribute to the group and have an awesome time!
