Out on the Shelves: Book lists

By WCL librarians

We've put together some book lists for Out on the Shelves to help you start your reading journey!

Out on the Shelves is an online resource created by InsideOUT to connect rainbow young people with books and stories with positive rainbow representation. Each June they hold an awareness campaign where schools and libraries around Aotearoa have the opportunity to promote Out on the Shelves, enter (and hopefully win!) their Display Competition, and uplift and celebrate rainbow people and stories across the motu.

To help you kick off your reading journey, we've put together some booklists featuring a wide range of rainbow identities.

These lists may be particularly useful if you've signed up for our Out on the Shelves: Read the Rainbow online challenge!
