Both rooms have flat screen TVs for presentations. Laptops can be connected to these TVs via HDMI.

Booking

Email teawe.library@wcc.govt.nz, with your name, contact details and purpose of use.

Restrictions

There is a maximum booking limit of 6 hours per week per external person/group, to enable fair use of the facilities by all library users.

In consideration for other library users please keep noise to a reasonable level as the rooms are not soundproof.

Late arrival: the booking is void 15 minutes after the start time and other patrons may use the room.

Namesakes

Mā ngā huruhuru ka rere te manu

It is the feathers that enable the bird to fly

Te Awe means "White Feathers" in te reo Māori, and our meeting rooms are named after some of our most precious birds:

  • Huia — the now extinct huia has long had iconic significance in New Zealand because of its beauty. The white-tipped tail feathers were a revered taonga (treasure) for Māori.
  • Tūī — the tūī has an exceptional vocal range, from harsh squawks, clicks and whirrs to bell-like melodies. Part of their range is beyond human hearing, so in the middle of a song they can seem to fall suddenly silent.

Johnsonville Library at Waitohi Hub

We have two meeting rooms available for use: Ani Waaka and Akanihi.

Each room can accommodate 12 people; the two rooms can be opened up into one room which can accommodate 24 people.

Technology

Both rooms have flat screen TVs for presentations. Laptops can be connected to these TVs via HDMI.
