Wellington City Libraries Code of Conduct
Wellington City Libraries requires that all library visitors:
- Respect the rights of others, treating staff and patrons with courtesy and consideration
- Treat the library environment with care and respect
Failure to honour your responsibilities may result in being asked to leave the library and repeated poor conduct may result in a ban (for up to 21 days) from one or more sites.
We do not tolerate:
- Discriminatory or abusive language
- Physical confrontation, aggression, bullying or violence
- Behaviour that has a negative impact on others using the space
- Consumption of alcohol or drugs onsite
All Wellington City Council sites are smokefree (including vaping).
When using public computers or the wifi network you must:
- Comply fully with the terms and conditions of use

Children in the library
Children 14 years and under must be accompanied and actively supervised by a parent or guardian at all times to ensure their safety and the safety of others.

Service animals
We welcome accredited assistance animals in our libraries (with the appropriate identification) but other animals are only permitted onsite by prior arrangement as part of a planned event or programme (e.g. Read to Kurī).
Photography and filming
If you wish to take photos or film in the libraries, please seek prior permission and respect the privacy of individuals and groups.
Displays policy
The library reserves the right to determine what is displayed in our libraries.
